Doctrinal Statement of GodWorks Church International
We believe in one God, the Creator of all things, who is holy, infinitely perfect, and eternally existing in a loving unity of three but one equally divine Persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. From eternity past, God, in His infinite wisdom and sovereign power, has graciously purposed to redeem a people for Himself as His beloved children and to renew all things for His eternal glory.
We believe that God has spoken authoritatively to us in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, which were divinely inspired and written by His chosen servants. As the verbally inspired Word of God, the Bible is without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for salvation, and the ultimate authority by which every realm of human knowledge and endeavor must be judged. Therefore, it is to be believed in all that it teaches, obeyed in all that it requires, and trusted in all that it promises.
We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His own image, but they were tempted by Satan and disobeyed, thus bringing sin into the world and locking man into darkness. As a result, all of Adam’s descendants inherit a fallen, sinful nature and willingly sin against God. This fallen state alienates humanity from God and places every person under His righteous judgment. Yet in His mercy, God has provided redemption for humanity through the saving work of Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God incarnate—fully God and fully man, embodied the fullness of both deity and humanity, yet without sin or Adam’s fallen nature. He is Israel’s long-awaited Messiah, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus lived a sinless life, was crucified under Pontius Pilate, was raised bodily from the dead by the power of God, ascended into heaven, and now reigns at the right hand of God the Father, where He serves as our High Priest and Advocate.
We believe that Jesus Christ became our substitute and mediator, standing in our place before God. He willingly died on the cross as the all-sufficient payment for our sins. The atoning death and triumphant resurrection of Jesus Christ are the sole ground of salvation. All who believe in Him are justified by grace through faith and declared righteous in the sight of God.
We believe the Holy Spirit glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates sinners, and seals believers into living union with Christ, adopting them as heirs in the royal family of God. He indwells, illuminates, guides, equips, and empowers all who believe in Christ, leading them from darkness into a life of freedom and faithful service.
As believers, we enjoy rich gifts, rights, and privileges as members of God’s royal family. We are heirs with Christ and joint heirs with Jesus, called to the royal priesthood and sent as ambassadors for the King of kings. In Him we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
We believe that the true Church consists of all people who have been justified by God’s grace through faith alone in Christ alone. They are united by the Holy Spirit into one body, of which Christ is the Head. This universal Church is visibly expressed in assemblies composed only of believers. His Majesty the Lord Jesus has instituted two ordinances for His Church—water baptism and the Lord’s Supper—which visibly proclaim the gospel. These ordinances are not means of salvation, but when observed in genuine faith, they strengthen and nourish believers.
We believe God commands us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love one another with care, compassion, and sacrificial service.
We have been equipped with powerful weapons for the fight against spiritual darkness: the Word of God, the power of the Holy Spirit, and fervent prayer in the name of Christ. In obedience to the Great Commission, we are called to make disciples of all nations, bearing faithful witness to the gospel in both word and deed.
We believe in the personal, visible, bodily, and glorious return of our Lord Jesus Christ. His appearing, at a time known only to the Father, is our blessed hope and summons us to live in watchful expectancy.
We believe that God commands all people everywhere to repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. At the end of the age, God will raise the dead bodily and judge the world with perfect justice—casting unbelievers to eternal condemnation and giving believers everlasting life and joy in His kingdom. He will dwell with His people in the new heavens and the new earth, where all things will be made new for His eternal glory.
