If you are positive about the great ‘I AM’, then He will be positive about you. It will be at that point that He will roll up His sleeves and start working on you, and won’t quit until your last breath.
Life often feels like we’re perpetually stuck in a ‘construction zone’. Orange cones litter the path, detours force unexpected turns, dust clouds the air, and the constant noise of heavy machinery disrupts any sense of calm. Yet beneath the chaos, something stronger and more beautiful is being built. In our spiritual lives, this is exactly where many of us find ourselves—living in God’s active construction zones, where He is at work reshaping us for something greater.
The Bible captures this reality vividly in Mark 4:35, where Jesus tells His disciples, “Let us cross over to the other side.” What follows is a stormy journey across the Sea of Galilee. The disciples, seasoned fishermen accustomed to the water, suddenly face a furious squall that threatens to swamp their boat. Waves crash over the sides, fear grips their hearts, and Jesus—seemingly indifferent—sleeps peacefully in the stern. In desperation, they wake Him: “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” With a word, Jesus rebukes the wind and waves: “Quiet! Be still!” Calm returns, but so does a profound question: “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
This story isn’t just about a miracle; it’s a picture of transition. The disciples weren’t where they started, but they hadn’t reached the other side yet. They were in the messy middle—the construction zone of faith. Old ways of relying on their own skills no longer sufficed. Relationships strained under pressure. Comfort vanished. Yet Jesus was with them the entire time, guiding them toward destiny.
Transition defines this in-between space. It’s the period of changing from one state to another, often uncomfortable and unsettling. Familiar systems falter; relationships shift; restlessness sets in. We resist change—many dislike even minor updates like new technology—but God orchestrates seasons where staying put is no longer possible. He unfeathers our nests, much like a mother eagle removes soft lining to push her young toward flight. It feels harsh, but it’s loving. Without discomfort, we’d never spread our wings or experience the joy of soaring.
In these moments, doubt whispers that God has forgotten us or fallen asleep. But the truth is, He’s not done with you. The storm isn’t abandonment; it’s preparation. God closes doors not to trap us, but to redirect us toward “the other side”—a place of greater purpose, deeper faith, and fulfilled destiny. He loves us too much to leave us stagnant.
Think of your life as a building site. God is the master architect, laying foundations, tearing down unstable structures, and adding reinforcements. The dust and delays are signs of progress, not punishment. What appears to be disorder is divine design. Just as a physical construction zone eventually reveals a sturdy home or bridge, God’s work in us produces character, resilience, and internal power.
The disciples’ terror turned to awe: “Who is this? Even the wind and waves obey Him!” Their story became testimony. Yours will too. When you reach the other side—stronger, wiser, more trusting—you’ll recount how Jesus calmed your storms and carried you through.
So if you’re in transition right now—job changes, relational shifts, spiritual dryness, or unmet expectations—stay in the boat. Trust the One who commands the seas. The discomfort is temporary; the transformation is eternal. God is at work, building something magnificent in and through you. Embrace the construction zone. The other side awaits, and the view from there will be worth every detour.
